The Baltimore Jewelry Center offers 4 different types of residencies for artists at different places in their careers. Artists are given bench access to a fully equipped metalsmithing studio situated in a vibrant community of jewelers and makers.

Please note that the call for residency applications happens once a year.  Residency timing is dependent on the residents schedule.

The next deadline for applications is February 1st, 2021.

ONE-MONTH AND THREE-MONTH LONG RESIDENCIES

The Baltimore Jewelry Center will offer one-month and three-month long residencies for the spring, summer, or fall of 2021-2022. The exact start date will be dependent on the resident’s schedule. Applications for this residency are now open.

The deadline for applications is February 1st, 2021.

Applicants should have prior experience/education in metals and/or jewelry and be prepared to work in a self-directed capacity. For the three-month residency, BJC will also consider artists who are working in other craft/art media who have a dedicated interest in learning metalsmithing and applied jewelry techniques. The ideal candidate is eager to enhance or expand their studio practice, build or continue a body of work, and engage with our vibrant community of makers.

BIPOC ONE-MONTH RESIDENCY

The Baltimore Jewelry Center is offering a new residency opportunity: a one-month long artist residency for a BIPOC identifying artist. The residency includes full access to the BJC studio and a semi-private studio space, housing, and stipends. The residency will culminate with a pop-up exhibition and artist talk. Residency spots are available for the spring, summer, or fall of 2021-2022. The exact start date will be dependent on the resident’s schedule.

Applications for this residency are now open. The deadline for applications is February 1st, 2021. The application fee for the BIPOC residency has been waived.
